Mini Tri
Took a rest day the other night and headed into Arlington with Emma to finally sample Ray’s the Steaks. If you consider yourself a carnivore and have a soft spot in your heart for steak … this very well could be your nirvana. Washington Post Editor’s Pick, Washingtonian Very Best and a 4.5 out of 5 star average with 112 reviews on Yelp. Decor is nothing to write home about, but the steak is excellent (recommend the ribeye, medium rare). Push Morton’s and Ruth Chris to the side – you won’t find a better value.

Crappy phone pic of the tasty spicy cashews and beer from Spain. No pics of the steak ... busy eating!
After gorging on meat and potatoes yesterday, I knew today was gonna be a fun gym day. After asking around, I finally found where the spin bikes were at Lifetime. Tucked away on the 3rd floor, behind several doors – basically hidden from view. Why they did this, I have no idea. But I had the whole room to myself, and wasn’t about to complain.
Finally, I could do the trifecta that pushed me to join Lifetime in the first place … bike, swim and run all in one place. So I did my first mini tri to see how things would go:
- Biked 30 minutes (guessing about 8 miles, sadly bikes didn’t have computers to measure)
- Ran 2 miles
- Swam 400 meters
Finished up in about an hour, although honestly I wasn’t going for time. Shuttling back and forth and changing pretty much makes it moot anyway. But a great workout. I think my legs will thank me tomorrow …
